We got home on Monday afternoon, well late afternoon We did hit some rain for the last 20 miles but it stopped after we changed into rain gear in Saluda, SC
The image below shows the route home. This route has only two real problems.. One, it does have Macon on the route and that is a large town but not that hard to go through. And two was finding a place for lunch.
As for lunch, I have, in the past, tried to plan ahead because of the desire to stay off the main roads limits the available lunch spots. This has worked and has not worked. This time I did not plan ahead for the last day's trip home. Therefore, lunch opportunities were minimal.
Here is the route we took, about 320 miles.
Oh, for some reason, there were several places on this route that offered Cajun cuisine. It, to me, seemed strange but.. then again...

Day 3 Sunday
Lynn and I left the group today in Laurel GA, and head back home. Its a matter of time off. We took a leisurely trip back through Alabama. It was not too bad until the afternoon when it got warm and humid again.
It was about 320 miles. We tried to find some back roads that would be fairly scenic but, at least in this part of the state, its fairly flat. However the roads, overall are good.
We went through the Conecuh National Forest. See video below

Day Two Saturday
Left Rome, GA about 840 EDT and arrived Laurel, MS about 635 CDT. About 360 miles today. I did set the second odometer but failed to read it before covering the bike.

Day One Friday
We left Lexington, SC about 915 and got into Rome, GA about 815. Heavy traffic around the Atlanta area held us up. Here is the route as cloned from the GPS.
Ok How many miles did we travel? I forget to set the Second odometer on the bike so I have to calculate it from the GPS. So the numbers add up to 325 miles
Did not get many pictures today but hare are some from Tocca Falls College (name may not be exact)
A video from the Gift Shop making lot before we walked up to the falls
And if that video does not work. Try here

I added two more video files to the dropbox folder above.
I added a third video to the dropbox folder above. The video's entitled "Road Ends" is not an unusual occurrence. If you use a mapping program or the GPS to plan a route, there are some assumptions made. Almost every trip I have planned through rural areas has had at least one opportunity to hit a "Road Ends" sign. Sometimes we have taken them. Sometimes, like Friday, we did not.
A lot depends on the apparent "quality" of the dirt road. I remember one trip we planned that wanted me to take a "Foot Bridge" across a river. It was big enough for the bike but not meant for vehicles.
The blog below is from our trip to West Virginia and Kentucky earlier this year. We also found a "Road Ends" sign there as well

D-1
Ok, leaving tomorrow. Got everything packed, cleaned the bike, check the tires, and pressure, got the emergency gear packed (air pump, duck tape, DVM, fuses, extra wires, and more ).
Not much else to do, checked motel reservations, and just relaxing.

Planning
This trip is different. A member of a group of riders we ride with wanted to take a trip to New Orleans. So we said we would like to go along. Right now there are four bikes and six riders.
Truth is I won't really know what and when and where until we get there. Since this trip is not being planned by me I am just along for the ride. We shall see what happens
I have done some planning and will check out the bike later this week. Well new you all know what is going on as I find out.
